The PCRA are aware of the concerns of the Peel Common residents to the proposed development of the Newgate Lane areas surrounding the new road Newgate Lane East.
The PCRA understanding is that Newgate Lane east area runs parallel to the Peel Common Estate where Fareham are looking to grant permission for the building of 475 houses. A current application for 99 of these houses is already in the pipeline with a controversial plan to open up Brookers Lane road to through traffic.
An application has also been made to build 115 houses in Newgate Lane South and 75 houses in Newgate Lane North. Both areas are on the Stubbington side of Newgate Lane.
The developer has not let Covid 19 interrupt his applications and the PCRA have only been able to glean a full picture of the proposals and their implications by relying on information from the local Hampshire Councillor Stephen Philpott.
Stephen Philpott recently forwarded a letter to a number of residents (in his ward) that is very comprehensive and may be of interest to Peel Common Residents. The letter and its contents have been downloaded to the Library and are available to view to help residents understand the current position of the Newgate Lane developments.
Residents are reminded that the letter has been placed on the website for information. It should also be noted that the PCRA committee along with a majority of residents are fully against most of the development however it is recognised that there are some residents we represent who may be of a different opinion.
